FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
COLUMBUS, Ohio – July 9, 2012 – AirNet Cargo Charter Services, a leading small package express cargo airline, today announced that
it is accepting customers’ shipments that contain GPS and environmental sensor tracking devices.
These wireless devices classified as personal electronic devices (PED) combine GPS and environmental sensors that track real time location and condition
information, including temperature, light, shock, humidity, and vibration. The devices are small enough to easily fit into customers’ packages and provide
customers with critical, real time data via a secure web portal or email or text message alerts.
"We provide superior service to customers who have very specific and specialized transportation needs. We recognize that our customers, who are often shipping
high value cargo or temperature controlled cargo, require real time shipment visibility, tracking, and information about the condition of their package throughout
the transportation cycle," stated Holly Stapleton, Marketing Manager for AirNet. "By validating these devices on our fleet, we have essentially raised the bar in
terms of visibility and exception management."
"AirNet’s maintenance department and flight operations teams have evaluated, tested, and validated three different manufacturers’ devices across our aircraft
fleet," confirmed Tom Schaner, Vice President of Operations at AirNet. “These devices are compliant with all current FAA regulations, because they are configured
with an automatic radio suppression feature enabling them to automatically turn off upon take off and turn back on upon landing."
AirNet is the only cargo airline that currently accepts the three most common GPS and sensor devices, manufactured by OnAsset Intelligence, Moog Crossbow, and
GTX Corp.
