Initial Pilot Training Program

All candidates selected from the AirNet pilot selection process attend AirNet’s Initial Pilot Training Program (IPTP) conducted at our main headquarters located at Rickenbacker Airport in Columbus, Ohio. The training lasts five to six weeks and includes a detailed analysis of FAR Part 135 regulations, operations manuals, aircraft systems and performance, aerodynamics, CRM, advanced ATC operations and weather considerations.  Also included is up to five hours of simulator training and up to six hours of flight training in a Beechcraft Baron with a company Instructor. Simulator and flight training are conducted at night to prepare the candidates for night time operations. Completion of this program meets or exceeds the airmanship training requirements of FAR Part 135. All jet training is conducted at Simuflite and/or Flight Safety. We teach the art of "on-time performance". Pilots are housed and paid during training.

Successful candidates meeting the requirements of FAR 135.243c are placed as captains flying high performance propeller aircraft in the AirNet Express system. All full-time PIC positions are awarded through a seniority bid system. Low time pilots not meeting the requirements of 135.243c, who are selected as future AirNet Express captains, will be paid an annual salary while gaining experience in the AirNet Express system. Once PIC qualified, first officers are eligible to bid available positions.
